Launching in 2026, Healing Through Horses – Youth Equestrian Program is a trauma-informed, experiential learning program offered by Foster Kids Charity for youth ages 12 and older who have experienced abuse, neglect, or trauma.
Through guided, hands-on interaction with horses, participants develop essential life skills while building emotional awareness, confidence, and resilience. Horses provide a unique pathway to healing—responding honestly, calmly, and without judgment—helping youth reconnect with themselves and others.
Participants engage in structured, supervised activities with horses in a safe and supportive environment. No riding experience is required. Most activities are ground-based and designed to meet youth at their comfort level.
Through these sessions, students learn to:
Each activity encourages reflection, teamwork, and personal growth while reinforcing positive behaviors that translate into everyday life.
Our experienced team creates a nurturing and structured setting where youth feel safe, respected, and supported. We prioritize emotional safety, consistency, and encouragement, allowing participants to explore their potential without pressure or judgment.
Our approach focuses on:
Every child is met where they are and empowered to grow.
This program is especially beneficial for youth who struggle with trust, emotional regulation, confidence, or traditional learning environments.
